I love sitting my kids in front of a cute set up and letting them just be themselves. It’s so important to capture their real personalities so when I look back, I can remember who they were that year. Were they happy or sad? Were they thoughtful and kind? A portrait can tell so much more than just a beautiful face. (And yes, of course ALL of our babies are beautiful) but I want to remember them for their sillies and the smiles and I love allowing them to have direction of their own. Want to grab that pillow? Jersey Shore Beach Portraits are the very best activity to invest in while on vacation! I say activity because it’s so much more than just a photo session. Having fun with your family and documenting every moment is so special. You are making fabulous memories and will always remember this wonderful time with your family. I grew up a the beach, and it is my favorite place to be. Living in South Jersey has always been the best. I’ve been lucky enough to see the beach in all of the seasons, eaten ice cream and pizza after beach visits and walked on the boardwalk with cotton candy, Johnsons popcorn! I’ve had Polish Water Ice on warm summer nights, and I’ve sat on the beach talking for hours at night listening to the waves crash on the beach. To say I am lucky is an understatement.

As a professional photographer I am able to share my love of the beach, and of family with my amazing clients who come down here for amazing Jersey Shore Beach Portraits! My favorite place to photograph is in Ventnor, however, all of our beaches are beautiful! My favorite time is one hour before the sun starts to set. The beaches are mostly people free, and the sun is setting and giving us that beautiful golden hour every photographer craves! The water is the warmest in July and August, and after each session I always encourage some water fun! What’s a trip to the beach without that?

I had the honor of photographing the Brooks family for their Summer Family Session in Galloway, NJ. Summer doesn’t always have to be the beach! There are so many beautiful locations that are often forgotten when the sun comes out! Yes, we love the beach and all things sandy and warm, BUT we don’t want to forget about all of the gorgeous hidden gems around Atlantic County! One of my favorite places to go is none other than Stockton University in Galloway, NJ! It’s right around the corner for me which is always nice, but more than that it’s BEAUTIFUL. Stockton does such a fabulous job at landscaping their grounds! It’s perfect for portraits, and even a picnic! (Seriously, bring a picnic basket to your session, that would be so adorable!)

Having your Summer Family Session in Galloway, NJ is so relaxing. Galloway is a not considered a shore town, so it’s usually quiet during the summer months. However, there are so many beautiful hidden gems within Galloway that make you really glad you decided to stop here. I am a South Jersey Portrait Photographer. It’s what I do. It’s what I love. I am so lucky that my children love to get in front of the camera for whatever reason. This portrait session however, had an AMAZING reason. My daughter won a trophy. Yep! I think that deserves a photo session!

My daughter is an Irish Dancer. She makes me so proud. This past weekend, she attended a WIDA (World Irish Dance Association) Feis where she placed 1st place in the beginner premiership category. I was shocked, not because I didn’t think she could do it, but because she never had and this whole experience is new for us. Her teacher, Miss Kate is phenomenal. She is by far the best dance teacher I have ever met. She is passionate about dance, kind to all of the children, and she teaches them respect, structure, and everything they need to know to be good competitors. Even if they do not win, they are proud to be there, and all of the parents are proud that they tried and had fun! At the end of the day, it’s about having fun and enjoying what you’re doing! It was a proud moment for me as Mom to see my daughter in just as much shock as me when she realized she had won first place. Tears were flowing from my eyes, and all of her friends and their families were cheering her on! My little irish dancer is moving on up. I am happy for her that she’s found something she is passionate about, and I can’t wait to see where this takes us! I can’t wait to take more photos of her winning and achieving new things! Good thing I am a South Jersey Portrait Photographer! I can easily take her portraits whenever she does something great!

Tonight we got the news that she will be moving up to hard shoe! (That’s the dance where they make a lot of noise when their feet hit the floor, during the jig) She took this news as basically hitting the lottery. She has wanted to make noise since she first saw the irish dance assembly at her school. I am so looking forward to her growing and loving every moment!

Of course, I just had to take portraits of her displaying her trophy proudly! (And if you scroll all the way to the bottom, you will see her puppy Princess Fiona just had to get in on the fun!)

The babies, the themes, and even the messy cake are so much fun! It’s a celebration, like, “Hey look! Our baby turned ONE so we are celebrating by giving him his very own cake to smash and its going to be AMAZING!” and it is, every. single. time.

Like this R2D2 Cake Smash! What is not to love about this? We’ve seen Star Wars themes, and maybe even a Chewbacca theme. This cake is an R2D2 inspired plate of happiness made by his amazing Mama. So of course, he loved how it tasted, who doesn’t like a homemade cake?! I know I do! (I may have gotten some on my finger and I can say it’s good!) Also, I threw in the Chewbacca mask, because, well, why not!

Before the cake smash, well before ANY cake smash, we do ‘first birthday portraits’. I think it’s important to do these, well for one they aren’t covered in cake yet! And two, because it really gets the child used to being in front of the camera, because he (or she) will be the star of the show for 45-60 minutes. This is where they can warm up and get used to me documenting every move. The babies LOVE it!

I really had a lot of fun designing this set.

My husband and I put in a few hours creating these custom boxes to look futuristic and Star Warsy. Yes, I said Star Warsy. Please don’t hate me, I’ve never ACTUALLY watched Star Wars. So, given my intergalactic lack of knowledge here, I think I did pretty darn well. Regardless of all of that, designing a set is one of my favorite things to do. Whether it’s an R2D2 set, or a pretty pretty princess set, I am up for the challenge! However , if you DO want an R2D2 Cake Smash, bring it on! I will be more than happy to design a brand new set for your little man (or little lady) thats custom to what you’re looking for!
